about the tutor
Sara was born in Wales but grew up in Berkshire. Following an apprenticeship with figurative sculptors John Doubleday, Lorne McKean and Edwin Russel she studied with Allan Sly at City and Guilds of London. An RA Aeneas Award then took her on a drawing scholarship to Rome and Florence and she won a Tussauds prize and an RI prize on graduation. She completed her Masters in New York, supported by the NYAA and awards from the National Sculpture Society. She continued to work in New York from a studio in Harlem, working on figures for Warner brothers, later sculpting and managing a studio in the heart of Soho for sculptor Rhonda Roland Shearer. She now has a studio in Northamptonshire. She has recently completed several public sculptures and private commissions. To continue reading about Sara, please visit Society of Portrait Sculptors
