Would you like to learn how to weave a natural willow basket? An ideal shape for flowers and herbs in the garden.
Come and enjoy a few hours in our beautiful space at Yardley Arts and learn a new skill. This sweet basket is suitable for newcomers to willow weaving and those with some experience.
Jane will lead this slow craft workshop and demonstrate each stage of the process. The design uses buff and brown willow and a variety of other natural materials including ivy, forsythia, dogwood, lime suckers…
Willow has a vast range of colours and takes a variety of forms, enabling a wide range of creative opportunities.
What to bring
Lots of enthusiasm! Wear suitable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little mucky and sturdy footwear. Bring your own secateurs if you like.

About the tutor
Jane’s work is inspired by natural materials and making and photographing the results. After studying Fine Art at Northampton University Jane worked freelance as a contemporary arts worker delivering contemporary art exhibitions. Since the mid 2000’s she has worked on various community arts projects, including the Yardley Hastings Lantern Parade. Jane is a founder of Yardley Arts and has exhibited at the South Northants Arts Trail with her willow creations. She is a member of the Basketmakers’ Association.
