Always wanted to try your hand at portrait sculpture? Working from the model, you will create a 3D life-size portrait sculpture in clay at this 3-day course led by Clare Abbatt, a classically trained sculptor. You will learn measuring techniques to help achieve a likeness. Modelling stands, armature, clay and tools are provided. Bring your own tools if you have them.
Clare will give an illustrated introduction to the course and, during the lunch breaks, there will be the opportunity to watch a DVD of established portrait sculptors at work.
Dates and cost
Monday 10, Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 June, from 10am to 5pm daily.
Cost: £240 per person.
Only three spaces left
Preparation
All materials are included in the cost of the course, and there will be modelling tools available. Tea, coffee and squash are available at the arts centre. Please bring a packed lunch.
What to wear
Clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and a large canvas apron, overalls or smock is ideal. Clay can ruin clothes, so wear decorating or gardening clothes, or even a large old shirt.
Booking
Booking is essential via the tutor. Please contact Clare on 07929 428373 or email clareabbatt@icloud.com. The course is limited to just 7 people, so book early to avoid disappointment. Your space(s) will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.
